The modern history of Korea - Japanese colonial thirty-six years

Japan has successfully invaded the Korean Peninsula in 1905 and experienced the period of Japanese rule seriously started by the Japan?Korea Annexation Treaty in 1910.

The most severe relationship between Japan and Korea has begun.

The Korean Peninsula had remained under Japanese occupation until the end of World War II.

The Japanese occupation period from the Japan-Korea Annexation Treaty until the end of World War II has been called "Japanese colonial thirty-six years" in Korea.

Invaded Korean people revolted many times to repel it, but they were always defeated and suppressed thoroughly.

Japanese government established the Chosen Sotoku-fu (Governor-General of Korea) in order to provide Japanese education to Korean people.

It has also "changing the name" (enforced change of name from a Korean to a Japanese one), which raised disgust in people in the Korean Peninsula.
On the other hand, schools and various facilities were built in order to raise living standards in the Korean Peninsula.

It increased the literacy rate and the average life span of Korean people had lengthened to a great extent, thanks to the enhancement of medical equipment.

Koreans' anger, however, did not subside as they had been deprived of their identity and riots were repeated.

And when Japan was defeated in World War II, finally Korea became an independent nation.
