韓国の名字と結婚
今では、韓国の人たちは結婚相手を自由に選ぶことができますが、かつての
韓国では、同じ名字の男女は、場合によっては結婚できないという決まりが
ありました。
しかし、韓国人の名字は、他人と重なることが大変多いです。
「金」さんにいたっては、国民の1/5もいるそうですから、これでは金さん同士が
結婚を望むことも現実的には沢山あったと思われます。
韓国では、家系図がとても大切なものになっています。
そこで名字のことと結び付けると、「金」という名字でも、家系を辿ると、
同じ名字でも発祥の地が全く違うことが殆どなのです。
同じ金さんがいたとしても、「光州の金さん」だったり、「加平の金さん」
だったりします。
そして、発祥の地が別同士の金さんであれば、結婚も許されていました。
総合すると、同じ出身地の金さん同士なら祖先が同じだということで、
近親婚に該当し、結婚は許されないのですが、違う出身地の金さん同士なら
家系図を辿っても同じ祖先には当たらないということで、結婚ができたという
わけです。
現在では、同じ祖先を持っていても結婚はできますが、それでも8親等以内の
結婚は許されていません。
近親婚を何よりも嫌い、徹底して祖先の出身地まで管理する国は、ほかには
ないように思います。

Family name and marriage in South Korea
Today people in South Korea can get married with whoever they like, there used to be a rule which prohibited males and females with same family name from being married to each other.
However, it is very common in South Korea to have a same family name with someone else.
For example, one fifth of entire population of South Korea have a family name "Kim", so it can be easily imagined that there were many actual cases that couples with both family name Kim wanted to get married.
Family tree is considered to be very important in South Korea.
And when it comes to family names, none of "Kim" are the same in its origin when it goes back its family tree.
The same Kim can be "Kim from Gwangju" or "Kim from Kapyong".
And if the origin or the birthplace was different, even two Kims are allowed to be married to each other.
To sum up, if two people with the same family name "Kim" from the same birthplace they were not allowed to be married to each other because it was considered to be Consanguineous marriage, but if they were from different birthplace they were allowed to be married to each other because they would not have the same ancestor int heir family tree.
Today, getting married with someone who have the same ancestor is allowed but getting married with someone within the eighth degree of kinship is still prohibited.
I believe there are no other countries which hates Consanguineous marriage more than anything, and manage even origin of ancestor completely.
