韓国の基本情報
韓国の正式名称は、「大韓民国」で、英語では「Republic of Korea」
（略称でSouth Korea）といいます。
国土面積は約10万k㎡で日本国土の約1/4、人口は5000万人ちょっとで、
日本の約4割ですから、国土に比べて、人口の比率が日本より大きいといえます。
しかも、その人口の1/4が首都ソウルに集中しています。
居住している民族は、韓民族が殆どですが、日本人も多く、米軍基地もあるので、
都市部ではアメリカ人の姿も多く見られます。
国で定めている宗教はありませんが、一番多いのはキリスト教で、その中でも
プロテスタント信徒の数は群を抜いています。
日本と大きく違うのは、韓国にはいまだ旧暦が存在することです。
旧暦のお盆の行事は、毎年日付を変えて行われます。
日本にもかつて存在した「数え年」も、韓国には現在でも存在します。
むしろ誕生日に1歳年を取るという考え方は殆どせず、みんな一斉に1月1日に
年を取るという考え方が一般的です。
日本と韓国は長年犬猿の仲でしたが、2000年に入り、韓流ブームとして映画・
ドラマ産業が日本に進出、またここ2～3年はK-POPと呼ばれる韓国の歌謡曲が
日本でも大ブームになり、日本と韓国の距離は急速に縮まりました。
かつての韓国は、日本人にとって「近くて遠い国」でしたが、今ではその言葉は
完全に死語となり、日韓交流は密接なものになってきています。

Basic information about Korea
The official name of South Korea is Republic of Korea in English. South Korea is an abbreviation.
A country's land area occupies approximately 100,000 k㎡, which is a quarter of Japan's Land area.
The population is about 50 million people, which is about 40% of that in Japan.
It can be said that the proportion of the population is larger than that of Japan.
In addition, a quarter of the population is concentrated in the capital, Seoul.
The race who lives in Korea is mostly the Kan race of people.
But many Japanese and American can be seen as there is a U.S. military base in urban area.
There is no established religion in Korea.
Most are Christianity and most of them are Protestant believers.
The significant difference from Japan is that Korea still has the lunar calendar.
Bon events of the lunar calendar is carried out, changed the date of events annually.
The East Asian age reckoning that once existed in Japan still exists in Korea even now.
It is not common idea to get old in birthday but in 1st January at the same time for all.
Although Japan and South Korea had been at loggerheads for long time, movie and drama industries were introduced to Japan as Korean boom in 2000 and South Korean pop songs called K-POP have boomed on a large scale in Japan, and the relationship between Japan and South Korea has become rapidly close.
South Korea used to be "the close and far country", but it became obsolete today.
And the interaction between Japan and South Korea has become close.
