今や世界中の女性が普通に行う美容整形ではありますが、特に韓国の美容整形
事情は、特殊化しつつあります。
何と言っても、18歳以上の女性の二人に一人が美容整形をしたことがあるという
国は、ほかにどこを探しても見当たらないでしょう。
今の韓国人にとって、人工的であっても、綺麗になるために顔を変えるのは
当たり前で、「外見の美しさは、お金を出せばいくらでも買える」という認識が
強いようです。
韓国では、就職でも結婚でも、何よりも重要視されるのが「顔」です。
ですから、職を得るために、また良家に嫁ぐために美容整形はある程度仕方ない、
という考え方に落ち着きます。
若者がするだけでなく、親子揃って、日帰りで目の整形を受けてくる、
というのも、日常的な範疇です。
顔重視は人権侵害だ、という考えを持つ人が世界的には圧倒的に多いのですが、
その分、韓国の美容整形事情には特殊性が窺われます。
しかし、外見を気にし過ぎるために、精神的な問題を起こし、自ら顔を崩壊
させる人もいます。
美容整形だけでは物足りなく、自分で植物油を注入したり、お金が足りないと
闇医者にかかったりすることで、外見が崩壊してしまった人が実際に出てきた
のです。
また、整形失敗に対する保障はいまだきちんと成り立っておらず、泣き寝入り
する人も多いと聞きます。
安易に顔立ちを変える前に、闇医者の実態の解明も含めて体制の強化が望まれる
ところです。

Social Issue, The reality of plastic surgery
Today, plastic surgery has becoming more common for females worldwide but its situation especialy in South Korea has beceming somethig special and peculiar.
To say the least, I don't think we can find any other country, in which every other girls in the age of 18 and over have done plastic surgery, anywhere in this world.
It seems to be common and nothing special for modern South Korean people to change the appearance of their face in order to be pretty even if it is an artificial beauty, and they have a strong belief that "beautiful appearance can be bought as much as you want as long as you pay for it."
In South Korea, the most important aspect to be considered, even when it comes to marriage or finding a new job, is a "face".
Therefore, most of the time people ended up considering it is neccessary to have a little plastic surgery in order to get a job or to get married with someone from good family.
It happens daily that not only young people, but also both mother and daughter get one-day plastic surgery on their eyes together.
Judging people based on how their faces look is considered to be discrimination or abuse of human rights by overwhelmingly many people worldwide, but it makes the situation of plastic surgery in South Korea even more peculiar.
However, some people have mental problem because they care too much about how they look and some of them destroy thier own face.
Some people cannot be satisfied by only getting normal plastic surgery so they injected vegetable oil by themselves, or if they cannot afford to get normal plastic surgery, they go to see back-alley doctor to get surgery done. And just like that, there really are some people who destroy their own appearance.
Also because the insurance to cover failed plastic surgery have still not yet consisted well, I have heard that there are many people who have no way but just giving it up.
Before changing how their faces look, it is about the time that we demand for stronger management of the system including the solution for existance of back-alley doctors.
